HONORING the National Action Network upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual "Keepers of the
Dream" Awards Dinner

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend distinguished organizations that are dedicated to the pursuit of
justice, equality, and social progress; and

WHEREAS, The National Action Network (NAN) will host its prestigious
"Keepers of the Dream" Awards Dinner on Wednesday, April 2, 2025,
celebrating individuals and organizations that have made significant
contributions to civil rights, social justice, and the empowerment of
marginalized communities; and

WHEREAS, Founded by Reverend Al Sharpton, the National Action
Network has been at the forefront of advocacy for racial justice,
economic equity, and political empowerment, continuing the legacy of the
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, The "Keepers of the Dream" Awards Dinner serves as a
powerful tribute to those who exemplify the ideals of Dr. King through
their unwavering dedication to human rights, leadership, and community
advancement; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished event convenes civil rights leaders,
elected officials, community advocates, and changemakers from across the
nation to celebrate the achievements of those who have worked tirelessly
to advance justice and equality; and

WHEREAS, The 2025 honorees will be recognized for their outstanding
contributions in the fields of activism, government, media, business,
and public service, reinforcing the enduring impact of Dr. King's vision
in today's society; and

WHEREAS, The National Action Network continues to be a guiding force
in the ongoing struggle for equity, advocating for policy changes,
social reforms, and grassroots mobilization to uplift historically
underrepresented communities; and

WHEREAS, The "Keepers of the Dream" Awards Dinner remains a
cornerstone of the National Action Network's annual convention,
inspiring individuals to recommit themselves to the fight for justice
and equal opportunity for all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and honor the National Action Network upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual "Keepers of the Dream" Awards Dinner, and to honor
its continued commitment to civil rights and social change; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the National Action Network.
