CONGRATULATING Yvonne Reddick upon the occasion of
her retirement as District Manager after more than
40 years of distinguished service to Community Board
12

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Yvonne Reddick upon the occasion of her retirement as
District Manager after more than 40 years of distinguished service to
Community Board 12; she will officially retire from this esteemed
position on Monday, April 21, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Reddick made history as the first woman to serve as
District Manager of Community Board 12, which is the second largest
community board in the City of New York, encompassing the vibrant
neighborhoods of Jamaica, South Jamaica, St. Albans, Hollis, Springfield
Gardens, Jamaica Center, and Addisleigh Park; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Reddick began her service to Community Board 12 in
1984 as Assistant District Manager and ascended to the role of District
Manager in 1994, demonstrating unwavering dedication, a tireless work
ethic, and a profound commitment to public service throughout her
tenure; and

WHEREAS, Her leadership has helped shepherd transformative
developments in the district, including the expansion of York College,
the establishment of new schools, the realization of long-held cultural
dreams, the opening of the Archer Avenue and Parsons Boulevard subway
lines, and the integration of the AirTrain system, which has become a
major economic engine for Southeast Queens; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Reddick played a pivotal role in the comprehensive
rezoning of Jamaica, the revitalization of local parks, infrastructure
improvements, and the delivery of critical educational and community
resources, thanks in no small part to her collaborative approach and
strong relationships with public officials; and

WHEREAS, Ever attuned to the pressing needs of her community, Yvonne
Reddick has been a persistent and vocal advocate on issues such as
groundwater levels, homelessness, flooding, transportation access, and
the foreclosure crisis-always seeking solutions that uplift and support
her constituents; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Reddick's four decades of civic service stand as a
shining example of integrity, perseverance, and love for community, and
she leaves behind a remarkable legacy that will continue to inspire
future generations of public servants; and

WHEREAS, For more 40 years, Yvonne Reddick rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Queens community, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Yvonne Reddick over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Yvonne Reddick upon the occasion of her retirement, and to
extend to her the very best wishes for continued success, health, and
happiness in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Yvonne Reddick.
