exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to

WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents,
educators, and administrators to provide the highest quality education
for students is the hallmark and tradition of the Cambria School of
Excellence; and

WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1980, graduates of the Cambria Center
for the Gifted Child would typically move on to private independent
preparatory schools and programs, but many were unwilling to leave the
Queens area and did not wish to leave a prestigious organization that
has served them well, which resulted in a demand for the continuation of
the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child's programs; and

WHEREAS, The Cambria School of Excellence is a direct outgrowth and
continuation of the work of the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child, and
is a result of the clear community demand for a quality middle school
program that prioritizes rigorous accelerated academic programs while
maintaining small classrooms and a nurturing environment; and

WHEREAS, The Cambria School of Excellence opened its doors in
September 2009 with its first group of 6th grade students; the
organization has since been guided by the mission to provide a rigorous
and comprehensive academic program which will produce critical thinkers
who solve problems while being ethical and socially responsible; and

WHEREAS, Together, staff, students, administrators, families, and
community members have fostered an environment that cultivates
self-confidence, leadership, character, and excellence; and

WHEREAS, Teaching methods at the Cambria School of Excellence
prioritize the belief that every student possesses a wide range of
talents and strengths which, if realized and fostered, will lead to
purposeful and fulfilled lives; and

WHEREAS, Graduates of the Cambria School of Excellence are lifelong
learners who are able to demonstrate entrepreneurship and public
speaking skills and are ready to lead an ethical life of integrity and
service to the global community; and

WHEREAS, The Cambria School of Excellence is proudly aware of its
distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to parents,
students, and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for
the ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the Cambria School of Excellence to
be celebrated on June 12, 2025; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted
