COMMEMORATING the 45th Anniversary of the Cambria
Center for the Gifted Child to be celebrated on June
12, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the Cambria Center for the Gifted
Child, to be celebrated on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Crest Hollow
Country Club in Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents,
educators, and administrators to provide the highest quality education
for students is the hallmark and tradition of the Cambria Center for the
Gifted Child; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child began with
four children as a home-based school as part of the founder's doctoral
research project, and in 1982, the program moved into its own building
and began servicing as both a pre-school and elementary school; and
WHEREAS, As word of the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child spread,
the student population grew in tandem with the school's remarkable
success, in part due to the hard work of its staff and its commitment to
theories regarding education; and
WHEREAS, Inspired by the noble mission to nurture, motivate, and
challenge gifted students to reach their potential intellectually,
artistically, emotionally, and socially, those at the Cambria Center for
the Gifted Child are guided by the idea that excellence is the key which
unlocks the door to success; and
WHEREAS, The Cambria Center for the Gifted Child is now a
pre-eminent, private, non-sectarian education institution that boasts an
annual enrollment of approximately 300 students ranging from pre-k
through 5th grade, and many graduates enter either independent schools
on academic scholarships or challenging public schools, where graduates
are oftentimes raised a grade level due to their academic success; and
WHEREAS, The Cambria Center for the Gifted Child is proudly aware of
its distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to
parents, students, and the community, and planning with vision and
purpose for the ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in
the years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the Cambria Center for the Gifted
Child to be celebrated on June 12, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted
to the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child.
