HONORING Eric Spinner upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the New York
State Office for the Aging on May 27, 2025

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eric Spinner
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the New
York Office for the Aging on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Plaza-Desmond
Hotel in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each May, the New York State Office for the Aging pauses to
acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by older citizens during
National Older Americans Month; and

WHEREAS, Deserving of great praise for his lifework, Eric Spinner is
also being honored by the Nassau County Office for the Aging at its
Older American's Conference and luncheon on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the
Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, New York; and

WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn in 1943, Eric Spinner moved to Nassau
County at age seven; he attended Valley Stream South Jr. and Sr. High
Schools; and

WHEREAS, Eric Spinner attended NYC Community College where he
studied Graphic Arts and Advertising Technology, and later received his
AAS in Electrical Technology from New York Institute of Technology; and

WHEREAS, In 1965, Eric Spinner joined the New York Army Reserve
National Guard and attended Basic Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia and
Advanced Training as a Counter-Artillery Radar Operator at Fort Sill,
Oklahoma where he attained the rank of Sp-5 and was honorably discharged
in July 1971; and

WHEREAS, Eric Spinner became a shop teacher in NYC high schools for
more than 37 years, the last 10 years of which he was Assistant Director
for Virtual Enterprises International, an entrepreneurship training
program; and

WHEREAS, During his years as an educator, Eric Spinner owned and
operated a pest control company in Nassau County for 28 years; and

WHEREAS, In July of 1994, Eric Spinner met the lady of his dreams,
and they married on December 7, 1997; they remain happily married today
and share many common interests; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Eric Spinner has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, Eric Spinner has served as a volunteer for the North
Hempstead AARP group, New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, and Nassau
County Veterans Service Agency; and

WHEREAS, Eric Spinner's endeavors to further help his community,
include taking positions on the Town of North Hempstead Veterans
Committee and Nassau County Police Commissioner's Community Council; and

WHEREAS, A co-host and co-producer of UVO Veterans News as well as a
podcast host for the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen
Cove, New York, Eric Spinner lends his voice and wisdom to the veteran
community; and

WHEREAS, Eric Spinner, a very active and industrious man, has
inspired and enriched the lives of those he serves through his
volunteerism, generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of
experiencing life to its fullest; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eric Spinner upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the New York State Office for the Aging on May 27, 2025;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eric Spinner.
