COMMEMORATING the McKinney's Nurses Day
Celebration and Award Ceremony on May 7, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor the invaluable contributions of healthcare professionals who work
tirelessly to protect, heal, and uplift the well-being of individuals
and families throughout the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the McKinney's Nurses Day Celebration and Award Ceremony in
Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025; and
WHEREAS, This annual event celebrates the compassion,
professionalism, and extraordinary dedication of the nursing staff of
the Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation Center whose
daily commitment ensures that residents receive high-quality,
person-centered care; and
WHEREAS, The Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center, named in honor of the first African American female physician in
New York State, continues her enduring legacy of excellence, equity, and
empowerment in healthcare delivery; and
WHEREAS, Nurses at McKinney serve not only as medical caregivers but
also as trusted advocates, emotional supporters, and essential members
of an interdisciplinary care team that enriches the lives of patients
and families alike; and
WHEREAS, This 2025 celebration also honors those among the nursing
staff who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, compassion, and
excellence in service, reflecting the highest standards of the nursing
profession; and
WHEREAS, Events, such as the Nurses Day Celebration, serve as
important reminders of the profound impact nurses have in shaping the
quality and humanity of care across our health systems, especially in
long-term and rehabilitative care settings; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 2025 McKinney's Nurses Day Celebration and Award
Ceremony and to honor the extraordinary service of the nurses at the Dr.
Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the staff and administration of the Dr. Susan Smith
McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in recognition of this proud
occasion.
