COMMENDING Captain Thomas Breslin upon the
occasion of his designation as Junior Firefighter of
the Year by the Mineola Junior Fire Department on
June 21, 2025

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Captain Thomas Breslin upon the occasion of his designation as
Junior Firefighter of the Year by the Mineola Junior Fire Department, to
be celebrated at the 21st Mineola Junior Fire Department Installation
Dinner Dance on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Mineola Fire Department
Headquarters; and

WHEREAS, The Mineola Junior Fire Department is a prestigious program
that will proudly celebrate its 50th anniversary as an Explorer program
in 2026; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, many young men and women from Mineola,
New York, and its neighboring communities have participated in the
program, and many have gone on to join their local fire department; and

WHEREAS, Since joining the Mineola Junior Fire Department in October
of 2023, Thomas Breslin quickly distinguished himself through
excellence, leadership, and service; in November of 2024, Thomas
Breslin's excellence and potential was recognized when he was elected
Lieutenant; and

WHEREAS, In April of 2025, a mere 18 months from joining the
department, Thomas Breslin rose to the role of captain, which is the
highest role attainable in the Junior Firefighters program; and

WHEREAS, In his esteemed capacity as captain, Thomas Breslin
organizes internal committees, oversees turnout gear logistics, and
promotes the Juniors' presence at public events throughout the Village
and County; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Breslin has shown exceptional promise and
dedication, and aspires to continue serving the Village of Mineola as a
firefighter, a student, and in future public service; and

WHEREAS, The leadership and passion that Thomas Breslin has
demonstrated have contributed to the continued success of the Mineola
Junior Fire Department, and his unwavering commitment will ensure the
Junior Fire Department remains a lasting opportunity for local youth;
and

WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction, Thomas Breslin has
distinguished himself as an individual of superlative ability,

establishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others, and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
Thomas Breslin is such an individual; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
Thomas Breslin now stands honorably, with just pride in his
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by senior firefighters, mentors, and his family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Captain Thomas Breslin upon the occasion of his designation as
Junior Firefighter of the Year by the Mineola Junior Fire Department;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Captain Thomas Breslin.
