HONORING Judy Parker upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the New York
State Office for the Aging on May 27, 2025
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Judy Parker
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the New
York State Office for the Aging at its Annual Older New Yorkers' Day
program on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Albany: The
Desmond Hotel in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each May, the New York State Office for the Aging pauses to
acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by older citizens during
National Older Americans Month; and
WHEREAS, Judy Parker has been a devoted member of her community and
county for over 57 years; she began her life of volunteerism by serving
on various committees at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in 1968; she
later proudly coordinated and expanded Morrisville, New York's Christmas
project; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed honoree, Judy Parker, is the vice president
of the non-profit known as the Hazel L. Carpenter Home, Inc. in Oneida,
New York; she has also given of her time serving as a six-year board
member for the Children's Center at Morrisville State College, as past
coordinator of the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program, and as
the current co-coordinator for the Friendship Inn in Morrisville; and
WHEREAS, Judy Parker currently serves as chair of the Village of
Morrisville Zoning Board of Appeals; she formerly worked as volunteer
coordinator for Madison County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP), a remedial reading teacher at Morrisville-Eaton schools and TCE
coordinator; and
WHEREAS, At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Judy Parker sewed
masks to donate to others in need, truly showcasing her unwavering
commitment to her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, In her leisure, Judy Parker enjoys organizing gatherings
for bridge players--new and experienced--fostering a sense of community
and camaraderie in the process; and
WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two beloved children and
two cherished grandchildren, all of whom have shown her love and support
and rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Judy Parker has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, Judy Parker, an active and industrious woman, has inspired
and enriched the lives of those she serves through her volunteerism,
generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of experiencing life to
its fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Judy Parker upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the New York State Office for the Aging on May 27, 2025;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Judy Parker.
