COMMENDING the Town of Malta Veteran's Committee
upon the occasion of hosting its 15th Annual
Veterans and First Responder Appreciation Day and
Parade on May 10, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations that protect and selflessly serve to ensure freedom and
public safety which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New
York State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Town
of Malta Veteran's Committee upon the occasion of hosting its 15th
Annual Veterans and First Responder Appreciation Day and Parade on
Saturday, May 10, 2025; and
WHEREAS, This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the Veteran's and
First Responder Appreciation Day and Parade; the centerpiece of the
weekend is the extraordinary, colorful Parade which starts at Malta's
Town Hall and travels south to the roundabout, and then north on route
nine ending at the Malta Community Center; and
WHEREAS, The Malta Veteran's Committee is currently comprised of
veterans from the Korean war, the Vietnam war, Desert Storm, and
Afghanistan with a primary focus to salute our military members, past
and present, and to create public awareness of the service and
sacrifices of these brave men and women in Town of Malta; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Malta Veteran's Committee places American
flags along Route 67 and Dunning Road for Memorial Day through Veterans
Day and seeks new members to assist in developing new ideas to salute
and assist our military and their families; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Malta, New York was not officially established
until 1802 when it separated from the Town of Stillwater, and on April
6, 1802, the first town meeting was held to elect officers and pass the
first town ordinances; and
WHEREAS, To memorialize the town's establishment, the minutes of
that 1802 meeting are still in the custody of the Malta Town Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Forces from the State of New York who
sacrifice and have so honorably served this State and Nation, deserve a
special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, First responders exemplify the power of human compassion
and the strength of the American spirit through actions of the most
heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless dedication merit
tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend cultural events which symbolize the historical, social, and
cultural development of this great State of New York, and to honor the
brave who embody the spirit of the principles upon which this Nation was
founded; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Town of Malta Veteran's Committee upon the occasion of
hosting its 15th Annual Veterans and First Responder Appreciation Day
and Parade on May 10, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Town of Malta Veteran's Committee.
