MOURNING the death of Richard Brian Cassolino,
distinguished citizen and devoted family man
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lives exemplify the highest
ideals of family, service, and community, and whose passing leaves a
void in the lives of those they loved and served; and
WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Richard Brian Cassolino of
Peekskill, New York, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran,
and friend, who died on Thursday, April 30, 2025, at the age of 74; and
WHEREAS, Richard Brian Cassolino was born on May 30, 1950, in
Southington, Connecticut, the cherished son of Elizabeth (McGinn)
Cassolino and the late Richard Cassolino; and
WHEREAS, Known to many as "Rick," he brought joy and vitality to all
who knew him through his musical talents, adventurous spirit, and
unwavering enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Rick
Cassolino's years of service were marked by a commitment to duty and a
love for the sea that continued throughout his life, including memorable
trips aboard his beloved sailboat, the Outlandish, to Block Island and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, Richard Brian Cassolino was the devoted husband of Virginia
Cassolino, the loving father of David Cassolino, Kathleen Barnett, and
Christine Cassolino, and the adored grandfather of Eliza Barnett; he is
also survived by his brother, Brent Cassolino, and a host of extended
family members and friends whose lives were touched by his guidance,
humor, and generous spirit; and
WHEREAS, Richard Brian Cassolino's infinite selflessness and
benevolence will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories;
his musicality, storytelling, and sense of leadership brought people
together and left an indelible mark on his family and community; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Richard Brian Cassolino leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man;
he will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Richard Brian Cassolino, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Richard Brian Cassolino.
