MOURNING the death of Michael T. Fitzsimmons,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael T. Fitzsimmons of the Bronx, New York, died on
Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, Michael T. Fitzsimmons distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Having served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1988,
Michael T. Fitzsimmons was instilled with the important principles of
honor, commitment, loyalty, and service to others--values which served
as guiding principles throughout his impactful life; and
WHEREAS, Following his admirable service in the military, Michael T.
Fitzsimmons joined the Lake Carmel Fire Department and rose through the
ranks, achieving the esteemed titles of president, lieutenant, and life
member; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Lake Carmel Fire Department,
Michael T. Fitzsimmons enjoyed playing Santa during the holiday season,
bringing great joy and endless laughter to children and adults alike--a
testament to his renowned loving and gentle spirit; and
WHEREAS, Michael T. Fitzsimmons' commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Michael T. Fitzsimmons is survived by his wife, Ann;
sister, Eileen; son, Matthew; daughter, Erin; and his beloved
"granddog," Dora; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Michael T. Fitzsimmons leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Michael T. Fitzsimmons, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Michael T. Fitzsimmons.
