COMMEMORATING the 140th Anniversary of the Utica
Elks Lodge No. 33
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations whose purpose has been steadfast in
providing cultural education, entertainment, and philanthropy in our
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 140th Anniversary of the Utica Elks Lodge No. 33 of
Utica, New York to be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Utica
Elks Lodge; and
WHEREAS, The origination of the Elks Lodge organization is a New
York invention with the first lodge opening in New York City; this
organization popularized and helped invent Flag Day; and
WHEREAS, The Utica Elks Lodge was one of the earliest Elks Lodges in
America; and
WHEREAS, The volunteers of the Utica Elks Lodge, in their service to
their community, have offered their time, funds, and comfort to help and
support their community; and
WHEREAS, For the past 140 years, the men and women of the Utica Elks
Lodge have served their community by offering help where it was needed,
be it for food for the community, children's support, aid to the elderly
or promoting liberty, justice and democracy; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body joins in celebrating the rich legacy
of the Utica Elks Lodge No. 33 during this special milestone year; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 140th Anniversary of the Utica Elks Lodge No. 33; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Utica Elks Lodge No. 33.
