COMMEMORATING the 75th Anniversary of AmeriCU
Credit Union

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of AmeriCU Credit Union; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCU Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial
institution owned by its members and headquartered in Rome, New York;
and

WHEREAS, AmeriCU Credit Union was founded under the name Griffiss
Employees Credit Union in 1950 by a group of civilian employees at the
Griffiss Air Force Base; these founders held a shared vision and a mere
$68 in pooled assets, which would be the groundwork for one of the
largest credit unions headquartered in New York State; and

WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1950, AmeriCU Credit Union has grown
to possess $2.7 billion in assets and 20 financial centers while serving
more than 167,000 members spread across 24 counties in Central New York,
the Mohawk Valley, Northern New York, and the Southern Tier; and

WHEREAS, With its substantial growth, AmeriCU Credit Union has
become a leader in the credit union industry and has preserved its
shared values and commitment to empowering its members and supporting
its surrounding communities; and

WHEREAS, To celebrate its 75th Anniversary, AmeriCU Credit Union has
planned a year-long celebration filled with special events, promotions,
giveaways, and community-focused initiatives to honor its members and
the dedication of its team; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and State economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling success it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of AmeriCU Credit Union; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to AmeriCU Credit Union.
