HONORING Yael Licht upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Port
Jewish Center on June 14, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of exceptional character and commitment whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their
communities and across the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Yael Licht upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Port Jewish Center at its Annual Gala, "Fueling Our Future," on
Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Harbor Links in Port Washington, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The Port Jewish Center is recognizing the dedicated leaders
of its committees whose tireless efforts ensure the Center's spiritual,
financial, and physical vitality; through their work, these committed
congregants uphold the core tenets of Reform Judaism-pursuing justice,
fostering community, caring for others, and repairing the world-thus
safeguarding the Center's mission and lasting presence for generations
to come; and
WHEREAS, Yael Licht has been an active and engaged member of the
Port Jewish Center for just two years, and in that short time, she has
made a tremendous impact on the congregation through her leadership and
dedication; and
WHEREAS, Yael Licht has taken on the leadership of both the Caring
Committee and the Religious School Committee, stepping up to ensure that
the needs of the community are met and the spiritual education of the
next generation is nurtured; and
WHEREAS, As leader of the Caring Committee, Yael Licht coordinates
meals and visits for Port Jewish Center members in need, fostering a
spirit of compassion, kindness, and connection within the congregation;
her efforts ensure that no member of the community feels isolated or
unsupported; and
WHEREAS, As chair of the Religious School Committee, Yael Licht
serves as a liaison among the rabbi, the religious school director, and
class parents, strengthening the connections between religious school
families and the congregation as a whole; through her tireless efforts,
the engagement of families has grown, ensuring that the Port Jewish
Center's youth are both spiritually grounded and actively involved in
the community; and
WHEREAS, The work Yael Licht and her committees do today is shaping
the future of the Port Jewish Center and the wider community, instilling
values of empathy, service, and responsibility in our next generation;
her contributions ensure that the children of today will grow into
compassionate and engaged citizens of the world tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a dedicated and
hardworking individual, whose remarkable contributions in such a short
time have made an enduring impact on the Port Jewish Center and its
members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yael Licht upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Port Jewish Center, and to extend its sincere
appreciation for her outstanding service and tireless efforts; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Yael Licht.
