HONORING Eric Kaufman upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Port
Jewish Center on June 14, 2025

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of exceptional character and commitment whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their
communities and across the great State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Eric Kaufman upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Port Jewish Center at its Annual Gala, "Fueling Our
Future," on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Harbor Links in Port Washington,
New York; and

WHEREAS, The Port Jewish Center is recognizing the dedicated leaders
of its committees whose tireless efforts ensure the Center's spiritual,
financial, and physical vitality; through their work, these committed
congregants uphold the core tenets of Reform Judaism-pursuing justice,
fostering community, caring for others, and repairing the world-thus
safeguarding the Center's mission and lasting presence for generations
to come; and

WHEREAS, Eric Kaufman has been a valued member of the Port Jewish
Center since 2022, and his dedication and service have quickly made a
significant impact on the congregation; and

WHEREAS, In the past year, Eric Kaufman joined the Board of Trustees
and stepped into the vital role of Treasurer, where his professional
background in accounting has been instrumental in supporting the
financial management of the Port Jewish Center; and

WHEREAS, As co-chair of the Budget/Finance Committee alongside Matt
Kepke, Eric Kaufman has played a key role in establishing and overseeing
the annual budget for the Port Jewish Center, ensuring that the
organization's finances are in line with its mission and vision;
together, they predict the necessary funds to support operations, pay
staff, run programs, and maintain the building, while also balancing
revenue and expenses; and

WHEREAS, The responsibilities of this committee are both significant
and complex, requiring foresight, planning, and strategic thinking; Eric
Kaufman's expertise and leadership ensure that the Port Jewish Center
remains financially stable and well-prepared for the future, supporting
its continued growth and sustainability; and

WHEREAS, Through his work on the Budget/Finance Committee, Eric
Kaufman is helping to secure the financial health of the Port Jewish
Center, enabling it to continue its important work and fulfill its
mission for years to come; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a dedicated,
thoughtful, and skilled individual, whose contributions are crucial to
the future of the Port Jewish Center and its ability to serve the
community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eric Kaufman upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Port Jewish Center, and to extend its sincere
appreciation for his exceptional service and lasting contributions; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eric Kaufman.
