HONORING Reverend Dr. Jasseth M. Cox upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary Awards
Gala on March 22, 2026

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those extraordinary individuals whose humanitarian service,
visionary leadership, and global advocacy reflect the enduring
principles of justice, equality, and peace championed by Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Reverend Dr. Jasseth M. Cox upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary Awards
Gala on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Crest Hollow Country Club in
Woodbury, New York; and

WHEREAS, For 40 years, Rev. Dr. Jasseth M. Cox has served in
ministry alongside her husband, The Hon. Reverend Dr. Joshua Cox, Senior
Pastor of The Queens Church of the Firstborn Inc. in Laurelton, Queens,
New York, where they have built an enduring legacy of faith; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Rev.
Dr. Jasseth M. Cox holds a master's degree in social work; her
expertise spans education, counseling, and workshop facilitation, where
she specializes in guiding men, women, and youth through life's most
difficult transitions; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her academic and spiritual pursuits, Rev.
Dr. Jasseth M. Cox served with distinction in the Nassau County Police
Department for 30 years; rising to the rank of Detective in 2012, she
served in the First and Seventh Squads, the Missing Persons Squad, and
the Central Detective Squad, eventually concluding her decorated career
as a Polygraph Detective; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Jasseth M. Cox is the visionary founder of "WOMEN
ABLAZE" at her church; this ministry was birthed to promote unity,
sisterhood, and the mandate for women to "Bloom where they are planted";
through monthly sessions, she provides the emotional support, spiritual
guidance, and biblical truth necessary to help women transition from
victims to victors; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Jasseth M. Cox is known for her profound insight
into the human experience and is recognized for her ability to translate
her leadership across community, national, and international sectors;
and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Rev. Dr. Jasseth M. Cox has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Dr. Jasseth M. Cox upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visionary
Awards Gala on Sunday, March 22, 2026; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Dr. Jasseth M. Cox.
