HONORING Deputy Chief Ed Noonan upon the occasion
of his retirement from the Utica Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Deputy Chief Ed Noonan upon the occasion of his retirement from the
Utica Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Ed Noonan was appointed to the Utica Police Department on
October 8, 2001, promoted to Sergeant in June of 2006, Lieutenant in
July of 2012, Captain in January of 2014, and Deputy Chief on July of
2015; and

WHEREAS, After a long 24-year career full of accomplishments,
commendations and accolades, Ed Noonan leaves behind a legacy of
dedication and commitment to his community; and

WHEREAS, Ed Noonan is a founding member and face of the Thomas
Lindsey Memorial Foundation that gave tens of thousands of dollars to
area youth, charities, and community groups; and

WHEREAS, Beyond his normal duties, Ed Noonan was a board member and
tireless advocate for the men and women of The John Creedon Police
Benevolent Association, was the Utica Police representative for
thousands of community events, parades, meetings, gatherings, and the
Ride for Missing Children; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Shannon, and his
children, Kate, and Liam, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Deputy Chief Ed Noonan upon the occasion of his retirement from
the Utica Police Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ed Noonan.
