CONGRATULATING Alden Guay upon the occasion of
winning the NYSPHSAA Nordic Skiing State
Championship on February 23, 2026

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and, through their dedication and integrity, become inspiring
examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances both the moral and physical
development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling perseverance in the face of adversity, discipline in
preparation, humility in victory, and respect for teammates and
competitors alike; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Alden
Guay upon the occasion of winning the NYSPHSAA Nordic Skiing State
Championship on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Bristol Mountain Ski
Resort in Canandaigua, New York; an achievement which reflects not only
exceptional athletic talent, but years of early mornings, rigorous
training, and unwavering commitment to personal excellence; and

WHEREAS, Family, friends, teammates, teachers, and the Queensbury
community loyally and enthusiastically supported Alden Guay throughout
his journey, celebrating not only his victories, but also the character,
sportsmanship, and quiet determination he consistently demonstrated; and

WHEREAS, On Monday, February 23, 2026, the Queensbury senior roared
through the second loop of the 7.5-kilometer course at the Bristol
Mountain Ski Resort to capture the boy's individual title at the State
Nordic Skiing Championships; he claimed the skate-style race with a
remarkable time of 20 minutes, 49.1 seconds - 15.7 seconds ahead of the
runner-up from Honeoye Falls-Lima (Section V), and 18 seconds ahead of
Shenendehowa's third-place finisher; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as cross-country skiing, which demands
extraordinary endurance, mental toughness, technical precision, and
resilience in the face of challenging winter conditions, Alden Guay
distinguished himself through both physical strength and steadfast
resolve; and

WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Paul Allison, whose leadership,
mentorship, and belief in his athletes extend far beyond competition,
Alden Guay refined his skills and embraced lessons of accountability,
teamwork, and perseverance which will serve him well throughout his
life; and

WHEREAS, Alden Guay's championship performance stands as a testament
to what can be accomplished through hard work, sacrifice, and belief in
oneself, bringing pride to his school, his community, and the State of
New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and congratulate Alden Guay upon the occasion of winning the
NYSPHSAA Nordic Skiing State Championship on February 23, 2026,
recognizing not only his athletic triumph but the exemplary character he
has shown throughout his career; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alden Guay and Coach Paul Allison.
