COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Rome
Specialty Company, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Rome Specialty Company, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Rome Specialty Company, Inc. (ROSCO) has been manufacturing
terminal fishing tackle in Rome, New York since 1926, and is the oldest
and largest manufacturer of such products in the United States; and

WHEREAS, From its inception, ROSCO's principal products have been
sport and commercial fishing swivels, snaps, sleeves, and rings made of
either brass or stainless steel and can be plated in nickel or oxidized
in black; and

WHEREAS, All ROSCO products are designed specifically for fishing,
however, some products have become popular with renaissance re-enactment
groups who link them together to make chainmail clothing and
accessories; ROSCO products can also be found attached to kites,
surfboard leashes, dog collars, and in unique custom jewelry; and

WHEREAS, Over the decades, the company has refined manufacturing
techniques, expanded product lines, and adapted to meet the evolving
needs of retailers and anglers alike; and

WHEREAS, Through global conflicts, economic shifts, evolving
technology, and dramatic changes in the global supply chain, ROSCO has
remained rooted in the belief that quality products and American
manufacturing matters; and

WHEREAS, With ROSCO keeping their manufacturing in the United
States, they contribute to their local and state economy, support
American jobs, improve their efficiency, better protect the environment,
and reduce the trade deficit; and

WHEREAS, Rome Specialty Company, Inc., in its centennial year of
operation, is led by President Jack Butts, the fourth-generation leader
following in the footsteps of founder J. Howard Butts; and

WHEREAS, The success of Rome Specialty Company, Inc. is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its leadership and hardworking and
dedicated staff, all of whom are considered integral parts of the
success of the business; their involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the business and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Rome Specialty Company, Inc.; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rome Specialty Company, Inc.
