COMMEMORATING the 30th Anniversary of Cafe CaNole,
a cherished bakery and restaurant serving the
community of New Hartford, New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those businesses which have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to
their communities and have contributed to the economic vitality and
cultural character of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Cafe CaNole, to be celebrated on
September 21, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Cafe CaNole Bakery & Restaurant, located in New Hartford,
New York, was founded by brothers Dean and Jason Nole, whose passion for
culinary excellence was shaped by a childhood rooted in the rich
traditions of Italian family gatherings and homemade cuisine in the City
of Utica; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by their mother and grandmothers, who were
accomplished cooks and bakers, the Nole brothers developed an early
appreciation for the art of preparing food from scratch, a value that
continues to guide the philosophy of Cafe CaNole; and

WHEREAS, Both Dean and Jason Nole pursued professional training at
the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, where they
refined their culinary skills under the guidance of accomplished chefs
and studied the traditions of European cuisine, including Italian,
French, and Austrian culinary techniques; and

WHEREAS, Their professional experiences further expanded when Dean
Nole worked in New York City and Chicago under acclaimed chef Rich
Moonen and studied culinary traditions in Italy, while Jason Nole gained
experience working with noted chef and restaurateur Todd English in
Boston; and

WHEREAS, Drawing upon their education, international experience, and
deep appreciation for family culinary traditions, the Nole brothers
opened Cafe CaNole on Culver Avenue in Utica on September 21, 1996,
transforming a former bakery space into a welcoming cafe and restaurant
that quickly gained recognition for its homemade pastries, espresso
offerings, and carefully crafted menu; and

WHEREAS, Over the past three decades, Cafe CaNole has become known
for its commitment to quality and authenticity, offering guests a
diverse menu that includes both refined Italian and European-inspired
dishes and beloved regional specialties such as chicken riggies and
Utica greens, as well as an array of pastries and desserts prepared from
scratch; and

WHEREAS, The cafe's name reflects both the Nole family heritage and
the classic Italian dessert cannoli, symbolizing the blend of tradition

and creativity that has defined the establishment since its founding;
and

WHEREAS, Through the years, Cafe CaNole has built a loyal following,
welcoming guests from across the region and beyond, including visitors
from Italy who have praised the authenticity of its pastries and
cuisine; and

WHEREAS, In 2010, the business relocated to its current home on
Campion Road in New Hartford, continuing its tradition of providing a
warm, modern dining environment while preserving the menu and experience
that patrons had come to love; and

WHEREAS, Beyond its culinary achievements, Cafe CaNole has also
served as a place of mentorship and opportunity for aspiring chefs and
hospitality professionals, with several former staff members going on to
distinguished culinary careers; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 30-year history, Cafe CaNole has remained a
family-centered enterprise, supported by the dedication of its founders,
their family members, loyal staff, and the many customers who have
continued to gather there across generations; and

WHEREAS, The 30th Anniversary of Cafe CaNole stands as a testament
to the entrepreneurial spirit, perseverance, and community pride of the
Nole family and all those who have contributed to the cafe's success;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Cafe CaNole and to recognize the
enduring contributions of this beloved local business to the culinary
culture and economic vitality of the Mohawk Valley region and the State
of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dean and Jason Nole, founders of Cafe CaNole.
