RECOGNIZING April 18, 2026, as Dia del Locutor in
the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
and celebrate individuals and events of historic significance to this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize April 18, 2026, as Dia del Locutor in the State of New York;
and

WHEREAS, Dia del Locutor, celebrated on April 18, recognizes the
vital role that broadcasters, radio hosts, and media communicators play
in informing, educating, and connecting communities; and

WHEREAS, For many Spanish-speaking New Yorkers, "locutores" serve as
trusted voices who deliver news, culture, entertainment, and critical
public information in their native language; and

WHEREAS, New York State is home to one of the largest and most
vibrant Latino communities in the nation and Spanish-language
broadcasters are essential in ensuring that residents remain informed
about public safety, civic engagement, elections, health resources, and
community events; and

WHEREAS, Dia del Locutor offers an opportunity to recognize the
dedication, professionalism, and cultural impact of these communicators
who work every day to keep communities informed and connected across New
York State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize April 18, 2026, as Dia del Locutor in the State of New York.
