CONGRATULATING the Notre Dame High School Girls
Varsity Basketball Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Class D Championship

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those outstanding student-athletes who distinguish themselves
through excellence in athletic competition, academic achievement, and
exemplary sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Notre Dame High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team of
Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Class D
Championship on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Hudson Valley Community
College in Troy, New York; and

WHEREAS, In a thrilling and hard-fought contest, the Notre Dame
Fighting Irish secured the State Championship title with a decisive
65-49 victory over Chateaugay, capping an extraordinary season defined
by perseverance, teamwork, and determination; and

WHEREAS, Demonstrating resilience and composure on the State's
biggest stage, Notre Dame overcame a competitive opponent through
disciplined defense and balanced offensive execution, outscoring
Chateaugay in the decisive fourth quarter to claim the crown; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Notre Dame Girls Varsity Basketball Team
is the result of a total team effort, with each student-athlete
contributing to the program's outstanding achievement and exemplifying
the highest ideals of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Notre Dame Girls Varsity Basketball Team
are: Sofia Falleti, Shirley Thompson, Quinn Boardman, Clairissa
Milliman, Gianna Falleti, Penny Jo Thompson, Emma Fitch, Riley Yunker,
Harper Ferris, Lillian Thompson, Layla Vasciannie, Lucia Fiorentino, and
Madelyn Casey; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the team's success is a tribute to the
dedication and guidance of its coaches, Vinny Falleti and Joe Bezon,
whose leadership, strategic insight, and commitment to excellence
inspired their players to perform at the highest level; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable achievement marks the third NYSPHSAA State
Championship in program history for Notre Dame High School, adding to
its legacy of excellence and bringing pride and distinction to the
school and the Batavia community; and

WHEREAS, The accomplishment of this team stands as a testament to
the enduring values of interscholastic athletics, reflecting not only
superior athletic ability but also the importance of sportsmanship,
discipline, and unity; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Notre Dame High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team
upon the occasion of capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA Class D Championship;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Notre Dame High School Girls Varsity
Basketball Team, and Coaches Vinny Falleti and Joe Bezon.
