HONORING Joseph Emminger upon the occasion of his
retirement after 20 years of distinguished service
to the town of Tonawanda, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joseph Emminger upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years of
distinguished service to the town of Tonawanda, New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, Joseph Emminger rendered faithful,
conscientious, and valuable service to the town of Tonawanda; and
WHEREAS, First elected as a Town Councilman in 2005, Joseph Emminger
went on to serve as deputy supervisor beginning in 2008, and supervisor
in 2015; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as supervisor, Joseph Emminger served with
loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Under his supervision, Joseph Emminger navigated the
closure of the Sumitomo Rubber facility in 2024, which caused more than
1,500 layoffs; he also took on the Tonawanda Coke site, one of the
town's biggest environmental cleanup challenges, which is now a new
development site for the first time in generations; and
WHEREAS, Projects completed under Joseph Emminger's leadership
include improvements at Paddock Park, a new splash pad, and a new ice
arena, as well as upgrading the Town's indoor field house and their
aquatic and fitness center, and creating top of the line recreational
amenities for residents and families; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Joseph Emminger was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Colleen; his
children, Joe, Chris, and Mary; and his beloved granddaughters Agatha
and Isabel, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the town of Tonawanda, Joseph
Emminger earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph Emminger upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years
of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joseph Emminger.
