RECOGNIZING May 6, 2026, as a day of special
tribute to the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses
Program and its impact across New York State
WHEREAS, The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program is a
national initiative that provides entrepreneurs with practical business
education, access to capital, and support services to help grow their
enterprises and create jobs; and
WHEREAS, Through its comprehensive curriculum and peer learning
model, the program equips participants with the tools, knowledge, and
networks necessary to scale their businesses and strengthen local
economies; and
WHEREAS, In New York State, the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small
Businesses Program has supported a diverse range of enterprises across
industries, contributing to economic development, job creation, and
long-term business sustainability; and
WHEREAS, The program's emphasis on data-driven decision making,
strategic growth planning, and operational excellence enhances the
capacity of businesses to compete and succeed in an evolving economy;
and
WHEREAS, By fostering collaboration and connection among
participants, the program strengthens a statewide network of business
leaders and ensures they are prepared to take their seat at the table in
shaping economic policy and development strategies; and
WHEREAS, Strong economic policy is most effective when informed by
real-world experience, and programs like Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small
Businesses help elevate informed perspectives, strengthening the
quality, durability, and effectiveness of policymaking; and
WHEREAS, The program plays a critical role in creating pathways for
meaningful engagement between business leaders and policymakers,
ensuring that those driving economic activity have a seat at the table
and a voice in shaping New York's economic future; and
WHEREAS, The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program
contributes to vibrant commercial corridors, encourages investment, and
supports the overall economic vitality of communities throughout New
York State; and
WHEREAS, The week of May 3-9, 2026, is recognized as National Small
Business Week, providing an opportunity to acknowledge programs that
drive growth, innovation, and opportunity across the State; and
WHEREAS, On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, participants and representatives
of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program will convene at the
New York State Capitol, highlighting the program's impact and engaging
directly with policymakers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize May 6, 2026, as a day of special tribute to the Goldman Sachs
10,000 Small Businesses Program and its impact across New York State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Commissioner of Empire State Development and the
leadership of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
