RECOGNIZING May 15, 2026, as Go Purple for Kids in
Care Day, in conjunction with the observance of
National Foster Care Awareness Month

WHEREAS, Together For Youth has served children and families in our
communities with compassion, commitment, and excellence for more than
140 years, providing a wide range of services, including foster care;
and

WHEREAS, Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing, and
loving environment, yet too many children face circumstances that
prevent this ideal from being reality; and

WHEREAS, Foster parents play a vital role in ensuring the safety,
stability, and well-being of children who have experienced abuse,
neglect, or hardship, by caring for them with nurturance and support;
and

WHEREAS, May is nationally recognized as Foster Care Awareness
Month, and Together For Youth is leading a statewide effort to raise
awareness through its "Go Purple for Kids in Care" campaign, calling on
individuals, organizations, and communities to show their support by
wearing or displaying purple throughout the month of May and sharing the
message for the need for foster parents; and

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize May 15, 2026, as Go Purple for Kids in Care Day, in
conjunction with the observance of National Foster Care Awareness Month;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Together For Youth.
