HONORING Howard Bushinger for his contributions to
the preservation of the history of North Utica

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens whose dedication to preserving the
history and heritage of their communities has enriched the lives of
countless residents and strengthened the understanding of our shared
past; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Howard Bushinger for his outstanding contributions as a local historian,
author, and advocate for the preservation of the history of North Utica
and the Town of Deerfield; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Deerfield, New York, Howard Bushinger has
devoted many years to extensive historical research and documentation
regarding the origins, growth, and development of North Utica, ensuring
that the stories, families, and traditions that shaped the community are
preserved for future generations; and

WHEREAS, Through his tireless efforts, Howard Bushinger has authored
numerous books and publications chronicling the history of North Utica,
including "North Utica: A Look Back in Time" and "North Utica: Another
Look Back," which provide residents and historians alike with invaluable
insight into the community's rich cultural and historical legacy; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of the 110th Anniversary of the Annexation
of North Utica into the City of Utica, Howard Bushinger prepared a
commemorative anniversary calendar and informational flyer to educate
residents about this important milestone and inspire renewed
appreciation for the area's history; and

WHEREAS, Howard Bushinger's passion for local history has inspired
others within the community to undertake historical research and
preservation efforts of their own, including research into the founding
Weaver family of Deerfield, one of the original families whose presence
helped shape the area that would eventually become North Utica; and

WHEREAS, Through his encouragement and leadership, Howard Bushinger
helped motivate the formation of a committee dedicated to organizing and
celebrating the 110th Annexation Celebration, ensuring that residents of
Utica and the surrounding communities could gather to recognize and
honor this important chapter in local history; and

WHEREAS, Howard Bushinger's unwavering dedication to preserving
local heritage reflects the very best qualities of citizenship, civic
pride, and community service, and his work will continue to educate and
inspire generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Howard Bushinger for his outstanding service to the preservation
and promotion of the history of North Utica and Deerfield, and to

commend him for his many years of inspirational and dedicated work on
behalf of the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Howard Bushinger in recognition of this special occasion.
