MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
September 21-27, 2025, as Surgical Technologist Week
in the State of New York

WHEREAS, Surgical technologists play a vital role in the care and
health of surgical patients in this State; and

WHEREAS, For over 60 years, surgical technology has grown to meet
the ever-increasing demand for well-educated, highly skilled and
versatile surgical technologists; and

WHEREAS, Surgical technologists play an integral role in the
surgical team, serving in many capacities alongside surgeons, nurses,
anesthesia providers and other health care personnel; and

WHEREAS, Surgical technologists are responsible for the application
of sterile and aseptic technique in the operating room, ensuring that
equipment functions properly and facilitating safe and effective conduct
during invasive surgical procedures;

WHEREAS, Surgical technologists strive to prevent life-threatening
surgical site infections and maximize patient safety; and

WHEREAS, All major hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers in New
York employ surgical technologists to provide quality patient care; and

WHEREAS, Each year the Association of Surgical Technologists
designates a week in September as "National Surgical Technologists Week"
to celebrate and promote the profession; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize these
exceptional healthcare and medical professionals for their outstanding
contribution in adding to the quality of life, care and health of the
residents in our State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim September 21-27, 2025, as
Surgical Technologists Week in the State of New York, in recognition of
our appreciation of CRNAs, and to celebrate their dedication and
professionalism; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
