MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
October 2026, as Clergy Appreciation Month in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the invaluable
contributions of clergy who serve as spiritual guides, advocates, and
pillars of strength within our communities; and

WHEREAS, Clergy Appreciation Month provides an opportunity to honor
pastors, ministers, rabbis, imams, and other faith leaders who devote
their lives to uplifting others, fostering unity, and offering comfort
during times of joy and hardship; and

WHEREAS, In the New York State, clergy play a vital role in
addressing social issues, supporting families, promoting peace, and
partnering with civic leaders to build healthier, more resilient
neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, The dedication, compassion, and wisdom of our faith leaders
inspire countless individuals and help shape communities rooted in
justice, dignity, and mutual respect; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting that we pause to celebrate and express
gratitude for the spiritual leadership that sustains and strengthens our
communities, especially during moments of change, crisis, and healing;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim October 2026, as Clergy
Appreciation Month in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York; faith leaders; clergy associations; and religious organizations
committed to supporting their congregations and communities.
