COMMEMORATING Serbian Heritage Day on February 26,
2025, and honoring the contributions of the Serbian
American community

WHEREAS, Serbian Heritage Day, recognized annually on February 26,
recognizes the rich cultural, historical, and social contributions of
Serbian Americans to the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Serbian Americans have played a significant role in shaping
the cultural and economic landscape of New York, contributing to various
fields, including arts, science, business, and public service; and

WHEREAS, The Serbian community, through its traditions, heritage,
and strong sense of identity, has enriched the diverse cultural fabric
of New York, fostering unity and mutual appreciation among different
communities; and

WHEREAS, Serbian Heritage Day provides an opportunity to celebrate
and honor the achievements and contributions of Serbian Americans, while
also promoting a deeper understanding of their history, values, and
traditions; and

WHEREAS, The State of New York acknowledges the lasting impact of
the Serbian American community in strengthening the social and cultural
foundations of our state and nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate February 26, 2025, as Serbian Heritage Day, honoring the
contributions and enduring legacy of Serbian Americans in New York.
