HONORING Firefighter Danny Dunn upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition after 60
years of dedicated service to the Phoenix Enterprise
Fire Department

WHEREAS, It is important to recognize and honor those distinguished
officials and citizens who devote themselves to public service and
demonstrate great courage and diligence in providing for the care and
welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great Empire
State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Firefighter
Danny Dunn upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 60 years of dedicated service to the Phoenix Enterprise Fire
Department, to be celebrated at a ceremony on Saturday, March 1, 2025;
and

WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout
the nation and their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the
field of fire protection and prevention; and

WHEREAS, Since the early days of our nation's history, the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our country's efforts to spare
people and property from the ravages of fire; and

WHEREAS, It is these individuals who selflessly devote their lives
to the protection of others who justly deserve our thanks and
appreciation; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 60 years, Danny Dunn has dutifully served his
communities in numerous capacities as a medic, fire marshal, fire
prevention educator at local schools, First Aid and CPR instructor,
author, historian, and through his service in the Army and Army
Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dunn was a charter member of the New York State Fire
Chiefs Association and previously served as president; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dunn has graciously shared his vast knowledge and
understanding of fire protection and fire safety through his many years
serving the fire department and the greater Phoenix community; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters not only provide a critical service
to the community but also engage in other activities of great benefit
and importance to the communities they serve; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dunn sought to serve the Phoenix community as a
business owner and through ongoing educational efforts; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dunn has earned the respect and admiration of his
colleagues, family, and friends who view him as a true representative of
what it means to be a volunteer firefighter and community servant; and

WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others, and tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is need;
Danny Dunn is such a firefighter; throughout 60 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call
of duty, these responsibilities that define the task of fire protection
and community service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Firefighter Danny Dunn upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition after 60 years of dedicated service to the Phoenix
Enterprise Fire Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Firefighter Danny Dunn.
