CONGRATULATING Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly
Simmons, and Ava Weiss upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Championship in the 4 x 400
relay on March 8, 2025
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Maya
Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, and Ava Weiss upon the occasion
of capturing the NYSPHSAA Championship in the 4 x 400 relay at the Ocean
Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York, on March 8, 2025;
and
WHEREAS, Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, and Ava Weiss
proudly represented the Columbia Track and Field Program at the NYSPHSAA
Championship and made history by winning the 4 x 400 relay with a time
of 3:54.99, which is a new school record and third-fastest time in
Section 2 history; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning their school's colors, family members,
friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, and Ava Weiss
throughout their journeys as they ended their season with an impressive
record; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young women are due
in great part to the efforts of their coaches, whom are inspirational
tutors and respected for their ability to develop potential into
excellence; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, and
Ava Weiss have clearly made contributions to the spirit of excellence
which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, and Ava Weiss
upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Championship in the 4 x 400
relay on March 8, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Maya Kelly, Kaitlin Bogucki, Molly Simmons, Ava Weiss,
and their Head Coach.
