HONORING Detective Geneva Reid upon the occasion
of her retirement after over a decade of
distinguished service to the New York Police
Department
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, For over a decade, Geneva Reid rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the New York Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Detective, Geneva Reid served with
loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, As a proud, born and raised New Yorker, Geneva Reid
recognized the importance of community and respect, and was known by
many in her community as a reliable, joyful, and helpful presence, both
in and out of uniform; and
WHEREAS, Geneva Reid spent time serving with the Manhattan South
Community Affairs Section - Police Service Area 4 before joining Housing
Community Affairs in August of 2023; and
WHEREAS, Community relations was important to Geneva Reid, and she
served as a liaison to the New York Police Department, New York
Community Housing Affairs residents, and the East Village Community,
successfully bridging the communication gap between these groups; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Geneva Reid was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the New York Police Department,
Geneva Reid earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Detective Geneva Reid upon the occasion of her retirement after
over a decade of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Detective Geneva Reid.
