COMMEMORATING the 80th Anniversary of Master Rug
Cleaners

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Master Rug Cleaners of Tonawanda,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Master Rug Cleaners, a family-owned carpet cleaning, sales,
and repair store in Tonawanda, is celebrating 80 years of business and
its contribution to the betterment of the community; and

WHEREAS, In 1945, James Masters purchased Wolf's Renovations, a rug
cleaning and mattress re-ticking company, located on Young Street,
changing the name to Master Rug Cleaners; some time after purchasing the
company, he decided to build a new facility on Delaware Avenue which is
where Master Rug Cleaners still operates; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Masters, the grandson of James Masters and current
owner of the company, has shared some of the history of Master Rug
Cleaners; his father, Robert, and uncle, David, assumed the business in
the early 1970s; and

WHEREAS, During the 1980s, Master Rug Cleaners acquired Allen's Rug
Cleaning in Cheektowaga, moving all the equipment to the Delaware Avenue
location; this transition expanded the cleaning end of the business; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Masters moved to Florida to study data processing;
however, he could not find a job in that industry so he worked in the
flooring business from 1982-1986, learning more about floor coverings;
moving back to Tonawanda in 1986, he rejoined Master Rug Cleaners, and
his knowledge was an asset to the company which could consequently sell
more floor coverings; in 1999, he took over the company; and

WHEREAS, Today, Master Rug Cleaners is one of the only facilities in
Western New York to still have a full wash plant; the cleaning process
still adheres to the procedure that has been utilized for many years;
and

WHEREAS, Master Rug Cleaners conducts business with high-end
companies that manufacture and develop cleaning solutions for the
flooring industry and high-end carpet and flooring manufacturers; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Masters credits the company's longevity to its family
atmosphere, customer service, quality, and satisfaction guarantee, doing
what is necessary to satisfy the customers which is most important; he
has great respect for his customers and feels honored to own this
cornerstone of the Tonawanda community; and


WHEREAS, It is with great pride that Master Rug Cleaners and its
dedicated workers celebrate this milestone 80th Anniversary and
anticipate many more years of success for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, The progression of Master Rug Cleaners is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its owners and employees, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and State economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the outstanding success it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Master Rug Cleaners; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Master Rug Cleaners.
