CONGRATULATING Kit Panna upon the occasion of
earning the distinguished Gold Award, the most
prestigious of Scouting honors
WHEREAS, Kit Panna, through their diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious honor, the Gold
Award; the ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Tonawanda, New York, Kit Panna is a member of
Girl Scouts of the United States of America, Troop 30875; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved its greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination, and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain its glory; and
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of the United States of America and its
members are dedicated to the development of character and leadership in
the youth of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, Since 1916, senior Scouts have sought to cap their years in
Girl Scouting with the prized Gold Award, which challenges Scouts to
change the world; and
WHEREAS, To earn the Gold Award, a Scout must complete a rigorous
set of service, leadership development, and skill-building tasks leading
up to the final and most challenging requirement, the design and
completion of a Take Action Project; this project must be an issue of
interest to the Scout and their community, employ team-based solutions,
and educate and inspire others; and
WHEREAS, Kit Panna's project was entitled, "You are Gonna be OK!";
their project created luggage bags with stuffed animals inside for
children experiencing emergency pickups by Child Protective Services;
and
WHEREAS, These luggage bags created by Kit Panna reduce the
possibility of children having to use garbage bags to collect and pack
their things; these prepared bags include necessities and items to
invoke a sense of safety and comfort for children during their time in
foster care; and
WHEREAS, With the help of the Hillside Children's Center, Erie
County Child Protective Services, Trinity United Methodist Church, and
Church of Nativity UCC, Kit Panna was able to create 350 bags for
children, far exceeding their initial goal of 200; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young individual has been involved in
Scouting for years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals, and has attained
all the necessary achievements; and
WHEREAS, Kit Panna is a credit to their family, their school, their
community, their State, and their Nation, and there is no doubt that
their future will be filled with accomplishments of equal importance;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Kit Panna upon the occasion of earning the Gold
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kit Panna.
