COMMENDING Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood upon the occasion
of his designation as Exchange Club Officer of the
Year by the City of Tonawanda Police Department on
December 4, 2024
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood upon the occasion of his designation as
Exchange Club Officer of the Year by the City of Tonawanda Police
Department on Wednesday, December 4, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood joined the City of Tonawanda Police
Department in January of 2015, and has served dutifully in numerous
roles since; he has been a relief lieutenant, and is currently a
detective lieutenant assigned to the Detective Bureau; he is also an
assistant SWAT team leader, and is a certified instructor of General
Topics, Taser, Tactical Medical, Firearms and Defensive Tactics; and
WHEREAS, Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood has been involved in several
high-risk situations involving both SWAT operations and Patrol
responses, routinely placing the safety and welfare of his fellow
officers and other individuals above that of his own, truly deserving
this esteemed recognition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood upon the occasion of his designation as
Exchange Club Officer of the Year by the City of Tonawanda Police
Department on December 4, 2024; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lt. Nicholas Kirkwood.
