COMMENDING Kevin Livingston upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the
National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section on June 8, 2025
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kevin Livingston upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section, to be celebrated at its 37th Annual Black and White Celebration
of Honorees on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Antun's in Queens Village, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Livingston, a native of Jamaica, Queens, is the
Founder and President of 100 Suits, a nonprofit organization that
provides professional attire and critical resources to underserved
individuals, empowering them to secure employment, housing, and dignity;
and
WHEREAS, Inspired by childhood memories of feeling confident and
valued when wearing a suit, Kevin Livingston turned a personal
experience into a movement that has helped thousands of men-particularly
those reentering society after incarceration-feel seen, respected, and
prepared for opportunity; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Livingston founded 100 Suits in 2010 and has since
expanded the organization's mission to address unemployment,
homelessness, mental health, and gun violence, including establishing
100 Suits as a Cure Violence site within NYC's Crisis Management System;
and
WHEREAS, A committed community leader, Kevin Livingston has
developed and led innovative programming at Rikers Island, organized
food delivery and financial literacy services for seniors, and continues
to offer case management and therapeutic services for vulnerable
populations across New York City; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Livingston's leadership has resulted in the opening
of multiple 100 Suits locations throughout Queens, with plans to expand
into Brooklyn, affirming his vision of systemic, citywide support for
underserved communities; and
WHEREAS, Widely recognized for his advocacy and impact, Kevin
Livingston has been featured in numerous prominent media
outlets-including The New York Times, CNN, Essence, TMZ, and The Steve
Harvey Show-and has collaborated with figures from the worlds of sports,
entertainment, fashion, and government; and
WHEREAS, As a father of three and grandfather of seven, Kevin
Livingston continues to pour into his community with dedication,
compassion, and a commitment to equity, building a legacy that uplifts
Black men and strengthens the fabric of Southeast Queens and beyond; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kevin Livingston upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kevin Livingston.
