Assembly Resolution No. 535

COMMENDING Colonel Carol St. Pierre upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section on June 8, 2025

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Colonel Carol St. Pierre upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens
County Section, to be celebrated at its 37th Annual Black and White
Celebration of Honorees on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Antun's in Queens
Village, New York; and

WHEREAS, Retired Colonel Carol St. Pierre, with great pride and
dedication, served the United States for 30 years in numerous positions
of increasing leadership and nursing-related management in both Army
Reserve and civilian careers; and

WHEREAS, The rewarding positions which Colonel Carol St. Pierre has
held include Head Nurse/Officer in Charge, Intermediate Care Ward,
Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS) instructor, Assistant Chief Nurse,
Family Readiness Liaison, and Detachment Commander at Fort Totten in
Queens, New York; she was assigned to the 8th Medical Brigade at Fort
Wadsworth, New York as the Chief Nurse; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Carol St. Pierre's unwavering commitment to serving
her whole community is exhibited through her active membership in the
National Association of Black Military Women (NABMW) where she is a
founding member and current president of the New York City Chapter; as
president, she is committed to keeping the history and heritage of the
Black women who serve our nation with courage and valor alive; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Carol St. Pierre's primary goal is to foster a
spirit of camaraderie and goodwill among all individuals interested in
Black history through community involvement programs; additionally, she
strives to motivate and support Black youth in their attainment of
academic excellence by utilizing military "role models" as a source of
inspiration, and by creating a scholarship award program for military
recruits through the NABMW NYC Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Carol St Pierre is the recipient of numerous
military and civilian awards, decorations, and honors, including the
Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Women
History Month Award from the 369th Historical Society, Eagle Award from
the Black Veterans for Social Justice, Caribbean American Healthcare
Award from "Caribbean Times," Marjorie Matthews Award from Bellevue
Hospital, induction into the New York Senate Veteran's Hall of Fame,
American Nurse Award, National Council of Negro Women Leadership Award,
and the Nurses Association of the Counties of Long Island Military

Service Award, and was selected to lead as the Grand Marshal at the 3rd
Annual Veterans Appreciation Brooklyn Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, Ever dedicated to making an impact at home and abroad,
Colonel Carol St Pierre participates in humanitarian missions in Nigeria
and Haiti; she is also a member of the National Association of Health
Services Executives/New York Region and Iota Chi Chapter of the Chi Eta
Phi Sorority, Inc.; she gives of her time volunteering at the Cooling
Center of Theta Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi during the summer; and

WHEREAS, With a core value of serving others, Colonel Carol St.
Pierre also volunteers in various military associations such as the
United Service Organizations (USO), the Retiree Appreciation Day at Fort
Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY, and provides supervision to nursing students
who take the retiree's blood pressures; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Colonel Carol St. Pierre has adopted deployed
soldiers through the Adopt-a-Platoon Program and sends care packages to
deployed soldiers; she is currently the lead for the Military-Veterans
Employment Resource Group for Diversity and Inclusion at Mount Sinai
Health System; and

WHEREAS, At present, Colonel Carol St Pierre is the Nurse Navigator
Clinical Coordinator on the Solid Tumor section of the Oncology Unit at
Mount Sinai Hospital where she spreads her radiant and positive energy,
truly making a difference in the lives of countless individuals; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Colonel Carol St. Pierre upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens
County Section; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Colonel Carol St. Pierre.
