COMMENDING Delicia B. Davis upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section on June 8, 2025
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Delicia B. Davis upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section, to be celebrated at its 37th Annual Black and White Celebration
of Honorees on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Antun's in Queens Village, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Delicia B. Davis is an award-winning author, artist,
literary educator and media personality who engages audiences in print,
live, and digital content through her global multimedia company, The
Luxe Library, which focuses on revitalizing literacy; and
WHEREAS, The Luxe Library is a full-service media library that
improves the quality of life of urban youth and families through
literacy education, high quality publishing, and unique storytelling;
The Luxe Library also aims to create opportunities for creators to
publish their works; and
WHEREAS, Delicia B. Davis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Media Studies and Journalism, has obtained a Master of Science in
Education degree, is a New York State Certified Educator, and is Mental
Health First Aid Certified; and
WHEREAS, With over 15 years of expert journalism, Delicia B. Davis
has a passion for enhancing community relationships with a special focus
on urban populations and young adult audiences; through written, visual,
and digital work, she impacts global listeners with captivating
storytelling, researched content, honest interviewing, and nuanced
multimedia reporting, all of which distinguish her in her field of
expertise; and
WHEREAS, Delicia B. Davis has gained valuable experience in the
business of arts and entertainment, having worked for BET News, Liberty
Studios, The Food Network, NYC Parks & Recreation, the NYC Department of
Education, and NYC Health & Hospitals; and
WHEREAS, With a natural talent for writing, research, creativity,
and storytelling, Delicia B. Davis has published more than 20 books, 5
magazines, 12 songs, and 4 media project which all focus on self-love,
healing, and growth; and
WHEREAS, A testament to her enduring success, Delicia B. Davis'
business, The Luxe Library, is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2025
and proudly displays itself as a staple in its community by bringing
heartfelt programming and literary events to urban youth and families
with its two locations and counting; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Delicia B. Davis upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women-Queens County
Section; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Delicia B. Davis.
