Assembly Resolution No. 575

COMMEMORATING the 70th Anniversary of Utica Mack,
Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Utica Mack, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Utica Mack, Inc. was founded in 1955 by Edward C. Heiland,
Sr.; following his wife Helen's passing, their two sons, Edward Jr. and
Paul Heiland took over the business; and
WHEREAS, As a result of hard work, experience, passion, and the
upholding of excellent standards and moral values, Edward C. Heiland,
Sr., Edward Jr., and Paul Heiland developed the business into one of New
York's leading heavy duty truck dealerships; in addition to Mack Truck
sales, service, and parts, the Heiland family were also the pioneers in
Central New York for truck leasing, founding HEP Leasing in 1956; and
WHEREAS, Hino Diesel medium duty trucks were added to Utica Mack's
line-up in 1987, resulting in the company becoming one of the first Hino
Truck dealers in the United States; and
WHEREAS, In 1988, the Heiland brothers sold Utica Mack, Inc. and HEP
Leasing to their sons, Edward Heiland III and Thomas Heiland, who
successfully expanded the business in 1995, continuing with the same
business standards to include Marcy Hydraulics and Equipment-a
full-service hydraulic and equipment department; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Thomas Heiland and Edward Heiland IV assumed new
roles at the company, becoming president and vice president of Utica
Mack, Inc., respectively; Edward Heiland III continued with his
expertise in selling the business' product line; and
WHEREAS, Utica Mack, Inc., HEP Leasing LLC, and Marcy Hydraulics
continue as a successful third and fourth generation family-operated
business where the owners are present in the day-to-day operations; and
WHEREAS, The success of Utica Mack, Inc. is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its hardworking and dedicated owners and staff, all of
whom are considered integral parts of the success of the company; their
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Utica Mack, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Utica Mack, Inc.
