COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Uarda
Temple No. 24, Daughters of the Nile, in Utica, NY

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations of long-standing commitment and enduring
service whose contributions strengthen the fabric of communities across
the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Uarda Temple No. 24, Daughters of
the Nile, in Utica, New York, upon celebrating a century of charitable
work, volunteerism, and unwavering dedication to children and families;
and

WHEREAS, Founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1913, Daughters of the
Nile is an international fraternal organization for women aged 18 and
older who are related by birth or marriage to a Shriner, Master Mason,
or Daughter of the Nile, or who were patients of Shriners Children's, or
are majority members in good standing of a Masonic-affiliated youth
organization; and

WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 1925, Uarda Temple No. 24 has
exemplified the highest ideals of the organization's mission, offering
service and compassion through its committed support of the Shriners
Children's healthcare network; and

WHEREAS, With more than 15,000 members in over 120 cities across the
United States, Canada, Brazil, and Bolivia, the Daughters of the Nile is
a diverse and inclusive sisterhood unified by a shared belief in family,
service, and mutual support; and

WHEREAS, The Daughters of the Nile's sole philanthropic mission is
the support of Shriners Children's, a world-renowned network of
pediatric medical facilities that provide expert, compassionate care to
children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries, cleft lip
and palate, and other complex medical needs-regardless of a family's
ability to pay; and

WHEREAS, Since 1924, the Daughters of the Nile have contributed over
$75 million to Shriners Children's through their foundations, with more
than $2 million annually in direct financial support, and more than
180,000 hours of volunteer service each year; members also provide
handmade items, books, toys, and other essential resources valued at
over $1 million annually; and

WHEREAS, For a full century, Uarda Temple No. 24 has played an
active role in that mission, partnering closely with Ziyara Shrine
Temple to help transport children and their families from the Mohawk
Valley region to Shriners medical centers in Springfield and Boston,
Massachusetts, and Erie and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, The women of Uarda Temple No. 24 represent generations of
committed volunteers and community leaders from all walks of life,
unified in their purpose to serve others, uplift one another, and bring
healing and hope to children in need; and

WHEREAS, On the occasion of its 100th Anniversary, Uarda Temple No.
24 rightly celebrates a legacy of compassion, sisterhood, and meaningful
service that has enriched countless lives and continues to inspire
future generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
proudly commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Uarda Temple No. 24,
Daughters of the Nile, in Utica, New York, and to express sincere
appreciation for their extraordinary legacy of service and support; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Uarda Temple No. 24, Daughters of the Nile, with the
highest admiration and best wishes of this Legislative Body.
