RECOGNIZING June 1, 2025, as Animal Rights Day
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official days that are set aside to increase awareness of issues that
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize June 1, 2025 as National Animal Rights Day; and
WHEREAS, National Animal Rights Day is an annual day observed in
more than 50 countries around the world, on the first Sunday in June;
and
WHEREAS, National Animal Rights Day is celebrated to give a voice to
all animals and raise awareness for their rights; and
WHEREAS, This occasion brings together the animal rights community
to celebrate, educate, and commemorate their fight; and
WHEREAS, Animals each have their own unique role in our ecosystem,
help to advance scientific knowledge, and hold cultural significance;
and
WHEREAS, We should work to promote animal welfare including disease
prevention and treatment, proper housing, nutrition, humane handling,
and responsible care of all animals; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize June 1, 2025 as Animal Rights Day.
