COMMEMORATING the 35th Anniversary of Fox Run
Vineyards, a distinguished family-owned winery in
the Finger Lakes Region
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
celebrate the milestones of businesses and institutions that
significantly contribute to the economic vitality, cultural richness,
and agricultural heritage of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
longstanding traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Fox Run Vineyards, located in the
Town of Benton on the western shore of Seneca Lake, as it celebrates
more than three decades of excellence in winemaking and hospitality; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1990, Fox Run Vineyards has grown into a
premier destination within the Finger Lakes wine region, widely known
for its award-winning wines, sustainable vineyard practices, and
commitment to delivering a world-class visitor experience; and
WHEREAS, The vineyard's origins trace back to 1984 when the first
Chardonnay vines were planted by Vineyard Manager John Kaiser and his
father; today, those very vines are among the few designated "Old Vines"
in the region and are the foundation of Fox Run's acclaimed Chardonnay
Reserve Kaiser Vineyard; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of 35 years, Fox Run Vineyards has expanded
to nearly 50 acres under vine, producing a diverse range of cool-climate
wines from seven distinct varietals, all while maintaining a focus on
quality, innovation, and environmental stewardship; and
WHEREAS, In addition to its viticultural achievements, Fox Run has
invested in a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and developed a
celebrated cafe and tasting room, further enhancing its reputation as
both a producer of exceptional wine and a destination for agri-tourism;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Fox Run Vineyards has earned
widespread acclaim, including numerous awards, high ratings, and
recognition from esteemed wine critics, as well as support and
collaboration from regional institutions such as the New York Wine &
Grape Foundation, Finger Lakes Wine Alliance, and the Seneca Lake Wine
Trail; and
WHEREAS, Scott and Ruth Osborn, co-owners of Fox Run Vineyards, have
reflected with heartfelt appreciation on the journey of the past 35
years, attributing the winery's success to the dedication of its staff,
the loyalty of its patrons, the support of regional partners, and a
shared passion for the excellence of New York State wine; and
WHEREAS, Fox Run Vineyards stands as a shining example of the
innovation, collaboration, and perseverance that define New York's wine
industry and agricultural economy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Fox Run Vineyards, applauding its
enduring contributions to the State of New York and wishing it continued
success in the years to come; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Fox Run Vineyards.
