CONGRATULATING Joseph Germano upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Joseph Germano upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday to
be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Joseph, lovingly called "Joe" by friends and family, was
born on June 19, 1925, in Mamaroneck, New York, where he was also
proudly raised and attended school; and

WHEREAS, One month before his 18th birthday, Joseph enlisted in the
U.S. Marine Corps; Joseph attended boot camp at Paris Island and served
in the Pacific Theatre as a high-speed radio operator with the 24th
Communication Marines on the flagship USS Eldorado; and

WHEREAS, Joseph participated in several successful invasions,
including invasions of Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the Philippine Islands;
and

WHEREAS, After 15 months of sea duty and admirable service, Joseph
was honorably discharged as a Corporal at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in
February of 1946; and

WHEREAS, Upon returning to Mamaroneck, New York, Joseph met Miss
Luisa Acocella, and in 1950 they married, eventually sharing the joy of
raising their four beloved children Patricia, Diane, Lisa, and JoAnne;
and

WHEREAS, In 1950, Joseph left his job as a wheel-alignment
technician and founded the Mamaroneck Garage, a complete service station
and body shop for cars and trucks; at its peak, he supervised 27
employees and oversaw the 24/7/365 operation of 15 tow trucks; and

WHEREAS, Joseph retired from his successful career at Mamaroneck
Garage in 1994 at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, Joseph has always demonstrated his utmost commitment to his
community, proven by his decision to start and grow his family and his
business in Mamaroneck, New York - the same community that he was raised
in; and

WHEREAS, In addition to being an avid golfer, Joseph is a committed
member of St. Vito's Church in Mamaroneck, and he participates in
American Legion, Elks Club, Rotary Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and
the Washingtonville Housing Alliance; and

WHEREAS, Joseph, through these activities and many others, has been
a vital part of the life and spirit of the Village of Mamaroneck for
decades; his enthusiasm for the community, his service to others through
his business career, and his energy and warmth have been a gift to
everyone he has touched; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, Joseph has enriched the lives of those around him through
his joyous and sincere love for others and through the vibrant charm and
infinite wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
magnificent achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Joseph Germano upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joseph Germano.
