CELEBRATING the life and legacy of Raisa
Kaydanovskaya, dedicated family woman and Holocaust
survivor

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Raisa Kaydanovskaya of Brooklyn, New York, died on Sunday,
November 9, 2025, at the age of 97; and

WHEREAS, Raisa Kaydanovskaya was born on February 18, 1928, and
comes from a family of proud Jewish workers in Belarus; and

WHEREAS, A testament to her profound resolve, Raisa Kaydanovskaya
miraculously escaped the Nazi invasion of Belarus; and

WHEREAS, Raisa Kaydanovskaya survived the Holocaust and in pursuit
for a better life, and the ability to provide for her family, went on to
graduate from medical school; and

WHEREAS, Raisa Kaydanovskaya had an illustrious medical career and
lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and unwavering faith; and

WHEREAS, A proud and dedicated family woman, Raisa Kaydanovskaya
raised her sons, Boris and Ilya, with her late husband, Moisey; and

WHEREAS, Raisa Kaydanovskaya's commitment to family, unshakeable
willpower, and her beautiful spirit of humanity deserve just recognition
by this Legislative Body and the citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Raisa Kaydanovskaya leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and legacy of Raisa Kaydanovskaya, dedicated family
woman and Holocaust survivor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Raisa Kaydanovskaya.
