Assembly Resolution No. 973

BY: M. of A. Buttenschon

CONGRATULATING the Oriskany High School Baseball
Team upon the occasion of winning the Class D State
Championship

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
commend rare athletic achievements and pay special recognition to those
who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Oriskany High School Baseball Team upon the occasion of
winning the Class D State Championship; to the praise and applause of
their excited fans, the Oriskany High School Baseball Team defeated the
North Warren Baseball Team in a 9-2 victory to capture the championship
at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, New York, on Saturday, June 14, 2025;
and

WHEREAS, Coach Eric Enos, who has three seasons and a 52-9 overall
score under his belt, led the Oriskany High School Baseball Team to its
momentous victory to overcome a devastating loss at the previous
season's finals; the team's eighteenth consecutive win and ultimate
championship largely stemmed from its early run support and remarkable
pitching performance, resulting in a final count of eleven hits and ten
walks; and

WHEREAS, This Class D State Championship marks the first time in
Oriskany High School Baseball history that the team returns home as
champions, reflecting the resilient work and practice that its team
members put in throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, The Oriskany High School Baseball Team proudly credits its
triumph to the excited energy its members mustered up, the passion each
member holds for the game, non-stop practice, and the foundation of hard
work they built upon throughout the season; each member of the team
contributed greatly toward attaining this much-deserved state
championship title; and

WHEREAS, Coach Eric Enos and all the outstanding athletes on the
Oriskany High School Baseball Team have clearly utilized dedication,
determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence, which is a tradition of their school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
