LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Evelyn S. Constantino upon the occasion
of her designation by Saint Francis Hospital and the Saint Francis
Health Care Foundation as a recipient of the 2009 Franciscan Award

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Constantino has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Evelyn S.
Constantino upon the occasion of her designation by Saint Francis Hospi-
tal and the Saint Francis Health Care Foundation as a recipient of the
2009 Franciscan Award; and
WHEREAS, The Franciscan Award is the highest award bestowed by Saint
Francis Hospital and the Saint Francis Health Care Foundation; it is
given to individuals whose lives have mirrored the spirit of selfless
giving exemplified by Saint Francis of Assisi and whose unwavering dedi-
cation to enhancing the quality of life in their community has made the
Hudson Valley a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Constantino will be presented with this most pres-
tigious award from the Sisters of Saint Francis, the Trustees of Saint
Francis Hospital and the Saint Francis Health Care Foundation at the
28th Annual Franciscan Award Gala to be held at The Grandview in Pough-
keepsie, New York, on Saturday, April 25, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Evelyn S. Constantino has
been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless endeav-
ors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Constantino is the Director of Human Resources for
Royal Carting Service Co., founded and owned by her father, Emil Pani-
chi; she is a former trustee of the Saint Francis Health Care Founda-
tion, having served on the Board from 1999 to 2008, and is currently a
member of the Board of Directors of Panichi Holding Corp. and Valley 82
Corp.; and
WHEREAS, A proud parent of three children, Evelyn S. Constantino is
also a former trustee of Dutchess Day School as well as past president
of the Dutchess Day School Parent's Association; and
WHEREAS, As Chair of the Saint Francis Preschool and Communication
Disorders Advisory Council, Evelyn S. Constantino was the driving force
behind the Panichi Family Center for Communication and Learning at St.
Francis Hospital in Beacon, New York, which opened in September 2007;
she continues to play an integral role in the Center as it serves the
growing number of special needs children in the region; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others as that demonstrated by Evelyn S. Constan-
tino over a lifetime of sacrifice and commitment; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the
edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Evelyn S. Constantino upon the occasion of her designation by
Saint Francis Hospital and the Saint Francis Health Care Foundation as a
recipient of the 2009 Franciscan Award on April 25, 2009; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Evelyn S. Constantino.
