LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Honorable Judith A. Pascale upon the
occasion of her designation as the recipient of the Suffolk County Woman
of Achievement Award on April 1, 2009
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that individuals who
distinguish themselves in their profession and in service to their
community merit the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend The Honorable Judith A. Pascale, Suffolk County Clerk, upon the
occasion of her designation as the recipient of the 2009 Suffolk County
Woman of Achievement Award on April 1, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Judith A. Pascale will be honored at the Annual Women of
Achievement Awards Dinner to be held at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook,
New York, on April 1, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Suffolk County, Judith Pascale was
named Suffolk County Clerk in March 2006 and was greatly honored to be
the first woman to be appointed to serve in this high office; and
WHEREAS, Judith Pascale began her governmental career in 1986 as a
County Executive Assistant; she joined the Suffolk County Clerk's Office
in 1990 as a Senior Deputy Clerk responsible for the oversight of the
Civil and Criminal Court Actions Departments; in 1995 she was promoted
to Chief Deputy Clerk, a capacity in which she managed the County
Clerk's Administration Department; and
WHEREAS, Shortly after Judith Pascale became County Clerk, the office
earned FEDERAL COMPUTER WEEK's 2006 Knowledge Management Award, INFO-
WORLD's 2006 Computerworld Honors Program Award, and GOVERNMENT TECHNOL-
OGY's Best of New York Award in recognition of its creativity in bring-
ing government closer to the people; and
WHEREAS, Judith Pascale may be justly proud of providing outstanding
constituent service while keeping costs down and of having made the
protection and safekeeping of government records a priority; she was, in
addition, instrumental in the amendment of the New York State Real Prop-
erty Law to allow County Clerks throughout the State to prohibit the use
of personal information on public records; and
WHEREAS, Judith Pascale has also been active in the business and civic
community; she has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce of the
Mastics and Shirley and has been a member of the Suffolk County Vietnam
Veterans Memorial Commission, Brookhaven Women's Advisory Board, and the
Crystal Beach Property Owners Association; and
WHEREAS, Judith Pascale currently resides in Moriches and is the proud
parent of four adult children and has five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to extend its high-
est commendation to Judith Pascale in recognition of her exemplary
personal and professional achievements and for her contributions to her
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Honorable Judith A. Pascale upon the occasion of her desig-
nation as the recipient of the Suffolk County Woman of Achievement Award
on April 1, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Judith A. Pascale.
