LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Barbara Feingold upon the occasion
of her retirement from the Hagedorn Little Village School after more
than 40 years of dedicated service

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Barbara Feingold upon the occasion of her retirement from the Hagedorn
Little Village School after more than 40 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, In 1969, Dr. Barbara Feingold co-founded the Hagedorn Little
Village School with Dr. Caryl Bank at a time when there were limited
facilities in Nassau County for the education of preschoolers with disa-
bilities; and
WHEREAS, Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Barbara Feingold, the
Hagedorn Little Village School has grown over the last 40 years from
caring for three children in a "one room school house," to serving
hundreds of children in its state-of-the-art facility in Seaford, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Inducted into the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2002,
Dr. Barbara Feingold and Dr. Caryl Bank have presented at professional
conferences worldwide; the pair also published a book, DEVELOPMENTAL
DISABILITIES OF EARLY CHILDHOOD, and produced a film, "The Best in Every
Child," which chronicled the lives of a typically developing child and
his twin who has Down Syndrome; and
WHEREAS, A certified Special Education teacher, Dr. Barbara Feingold
is also certified in Administration and Supervision, as well as a New
York State Certified School Psychologist and a licensed Psychologist;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Feingold received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Psychology from Queens College, a Master's degree in Educational
Psychology from New York University and a Doctorate in Psychology from
Hofstra University; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
she worked, Dr. Barbara Feingold served with intelligence and caring
dedication, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of
her position; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Barbara Feingold upon the occasion of her retirement from the
Hagedorn Little Village School after more than 40 years of dedicated
service and to wish her continued success in all of her future endeav-
ors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Barbara Feingold.
