LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Barbara Gannon upon the occasion
of her designation as the 2009 Woman of Achievement in Healthcare by the
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and the YWCA Orange County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Dr. Barbara Gannon upon the occasion of her designation as the 2009
Woman of Achievement in Healthcare by the Girl Scouts Heart of the
Hudson and the YWCA Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gannon will be recognized at the 17th Annual Tribute to
Women of Achievement Dinner to be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, For 17 years, the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and the
YWCA Orange County have honored women in Orange County who have made a
difference in the community in their professional, personal or school-
based activities; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Dr. Gannon has been called
upon to contribute her time and talents to countless endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to the health and security of children, Dr. Gannon
has been in private practice as a pediatrician in Washingtonville, New
York, since 1991; she is also a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instruc-
tor, teaching at Jacobi Medical and Good Samaritan Hospitals, as well as
a speaker throughout the local community on topics ranging from child
safety to children's nutrition and health; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Gannon has been very active with the Wash-
ingtonville Girl Scouts as a troop leader, and recently mentored her
troops in their pursuit of bronze and silver awards; a woman of great
faith, she also serves as lector at Sacred Heart Church; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gannon has continually demonstrated extreme competence,
extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwavering
service to her community and profession; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Barbara Gannon upon the occasion of her designation as the
2009 Woman of Achievement in Healthcare by the Girl Scouts Heart of the
Hudson and the YWCA Orange County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Barbara Gannon.
