LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary Celebration of
William H. Carr Junior High School 194, Whitestone, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose exem-
plary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of William H. Carr Junior High
School 194, Whitestone, New York, to be held at the school on Saturday,
May 30, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Constructed in 1958, and named in memory of William H. Carr,
an outstanding educator who served the Whitestone, New York area as
principal of two public schools, William H. Carr Junior High School 194
at 157th Street and 17th Avenue has established outstanding records in
scholastics, student involvement, charitable efforts, athletics and all
phases of school life over the past 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Located in the suburban section of Northeast Queens, the
administration, faculty and staff of the William H. Carr Junior High
School 194 devote themselves to developing and maintaining a community
of life-long learners; and
WHEREAS, William H. Carr Junior High School 194 is a collaborative
school community dedicated to achieving academic excellence for all; it
advocates academic rigor through standards-driven instruction, providing
a nurturing environment that offers experiences in utilizing technology
and practicing social skills that afford its students the opportunity to
engage in community service activities and become contributing members
of society; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of its Principal, Anne Marie
Iannizzi, together, the administration, faculty, parents and students of
William H. Carr Junior High School 194 work to maintain a reputation of
high standards and are proud of the school's accomplishments; they
continue to work to make the world a better place in which to live and
grow for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, William H. Carr Junior High School 194, in Whitestone, New
York, continues to fulfill its laudatory educational purposes and is
proudly aware of its distinguished past; it is eager to fulfill its
commitment to its students, faculty, alumni and community, and is plan-
ning with vision and purpose for the growth and change it will encounter
in the years to come; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an educa-
tional institution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to
our attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of William H. Carr Junior
High School 194, Whitestone, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anne Marie Iannizzi, Principal, William H. Carr Junior High
School 194, Whitestone, New York.
